About The Board Genius

I have played Catan for many years, but have always been frustrated by the standard board. One day a friend and I decided to make a laser-cut/laser-engraved board for ourselves. After finding a laser that could do the job, we spent many hours/days/months perfecting the board. After several years, and numerous "do you sell these?" questions, I finally decided to try and actually sell them. And that's how The Board Genius was born!

About Ryan

Even though my day job is in aerospace engineering, I've always enjoyed doing creative and artistic projects, especially working with wood. I also enjoy getting friends together for board game nights or the occasional LAN party.

It's been a lot of work putting together The Board Genius, but it's also been lots of fun and very rewarding! I hope that I can continue to do this for a long time!

Handmade in Arizona

All of The Board Genius' game boards are handcrafted in Tempe, Arizona. Because they are CNC laser-engraved and laser-cut in addition to being hand-painted and finished, they represent a unique blend of precision-machining and hand craftsmanship. Each game board is hand-sanded and finished using the highest quality materials and standards.
